As captain of the Sharks and a vital Springbok player, Keegan Daniels is making his mark on South African Rugby, but he is also leaving a legacy behind as a passionate ambassador of the Legacy Lifestyle Brand. Having started his rugby career at some of the best known rugby schools, going on to play at Craven Week in 2003 and, shortly after, being recruited into the Natal Sharks Rugby Academy, Keegan’s rugby abilities were clear from the start. In 2006 Keegan played in the SA under 21 side that narrowly lost in the final to arch rivals New Zealand and was named South African under 21 player of the year. From then on Keegan found regular success at Currie Cup and Super Rugby level, and finally taking over the helm of The Sharks in 2012.
His greatest personal success to date would be his Springbok selection in 2010, having proven his abilities despite fighting the label of being "too small for international rugby". Keegan’s record of having scored the fastest Super Rugby try ever, in 16 seconds, as well as his excellent leadership qualities and strong presence on the field, confirm the extraordinary abilities of this loose forward. From a young age Keegan was taught to maintain that level-headed attitude and always approach tasks in a meaningful and humble manner. It is the quality that has contributed to his success in rugby.
The ambitious man aims to one day leave a legacy behind him and be remembered as ”the down-to-earth man” who overcame the stereotype of having to be a certain weight in order to play in the position that he now succeeds in. Keegan is passionate about giving back to his community and has on a number of occasions supported those less fortunate and proudly supports LIV Village, which provides holistic residential care for vulnerable children.
Keegan’s success, drive, determination, pride in being the best he can possibly be, and levelheadedness are what make Keegan an excellent ambassador for Legacy Lifestyle.
