The Princess Alice Adoption Home (PAAH) is a place where hope floats, a place where the future becomes possible. PAAH is a facility of Jo’burg Child Welfare (JCW) and is the first loving home for many babies who have been abandoned, consented for adoption or orphaned.

The babies in its care range in age from new-born to two years old. PAAH is able to accommodate up to 30 little ones at any one time. They stay with us, as their place of safety, until they are adopted, fostered or as a very last resort transferred to another child care facility. We provide for all of their needs, 24 hours a day, all year round. On average we care for 65 babies per year. PAAH also provides a safe haven for up to four pregnant girls who are in crisis. Generally, the young mothers-to-be stay at the Centre for the last three months of their pregnancy and full accommodation is provided for them. PAAH is predominantly a donor funded organisation and also relies on donations in kind, as well as the support of volunteers to help them provide for the emotional, physical and developmental needs of their young charges.
